Can a PFSense script help with a WAN i/f not coming up after a network outage

Overnight there has been network maintenance work which affected my internet. After this finished the PFSense WAN i/f has not come back up again. I have noticed this occasionally happening before and I would just restart the PFSense router to fix it.
However occasionally this would happen when I am not at home.
So is there anyway to run a script (every 30 mins or so) that could help with this. e.g. check the WAN (internet) is up and OK and if not restart pfsense or ?
PS FYI I have never run scripts on PFSense so I am not familiar with the process.
